The Mount Kisco Public Library offers FREE access to an unlimited, high-speed mobile hotspot. The hotspot kit lending program allows any Mount Kisco Public Library cardholder in good standing, 18 years of age or older, to check out a kit and connect to the internet from almost anywhere!
A hotspot is a small device you can use to connect a wireless enabled device, such as a laptop, smartphone or tablet, to the internet.
Who can reserve a hotspot?
Mount Kisco Public Library cardholders who are 18 years old or older and whose accounts are in good standing.
How do I reserve a hotspot kit?
Hotspots can be reserved by calling 914-864-0137 with your library card.
How far in advance can I reserve a hotspot?
Reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance.
Can I cancel my reservation?
Yes, call us at 914-864-0137 and request that we cancel your reservation.
Is there a charge to borrow a hotspot?
There is no charge to borrow a hotspot kit; however, there are fees incurred if the kit and all its pieces are not returned on or before the due date.
What are the fees?
- Lost or damaged Hotspot device $100
- Lost or damaged Charging adapter $15.00
- Lost or damaged Charging cord $15.00
- $10 per day for a kit returned late
How long can I borrow the hotspot kit?
Kits may be borrowed for 7 days. Overdue hotspots will accrue late fees and the hotspot service will be deactivated remotely.
Where do I pick up the hotspot?
Hotspot kits can be picked up at the Mount Kisco Public Library circulation desk only.
A complete kit consists of the following items:
- Hotspot device
- Charging adapter
- Charging cord
- Box
- Instruction sheet
Do I need my library card to pick up the hotspot?
Yes, you will need to present the library card that you used when reserving the kit.
Can I renew the hotspot I have checked out?
No, hotspots are not renewable. After check in, a patron may checkout or reserve a hotspot again after 24 hours if available.
Where do I return my hotspot?
Return the hotspot to the Mount Kisco Public Library circulation desk. Do not return it to the book-drop or to any other library; otherwise, a $10 fee is charged.
Will the hotspot work everywhere?
No, it will only work where Verizon Wireless has data coverage. If you plan on taking the hotspot with you on a trip, you will definitely want to check
Verizon's data coverage map.
How many devices can connect to the hotspot?
A maximum of 5 (five) devices can be connected at once.
